Cannon Brawl brings the Worms style of destructible terrains and and tactical warfare to ancient times. It is a 2D real time strategy game that also resembles Castlestorm in the fact you protect your castle with different variants of weapon stations. From shields, cannons, missles, and even lazers you play defense against enemies with the same setup. Every thing on the entire map is able to be destroyed, so missles will knock huge chunks out of the terrain while missles carve through it as well. The single player is quite addictive, and they even throw in there some really cool bosses. So it keeps fresh not only battling stationary targets, but even flying fortresses. A long with the cool enemies you also unlock different characters you can use as well, each with different power ups. So the game really never feels the same.
The art is really bright and colorful, everything is designed quite nicely, and able to be destroyed. The music is about what you would expect, it fits well with the game and varies enough to not become repetitive. The controls are spot on as well, everything runs smoothly as you build and destroy very quickly in battle. You and your opponent start out with the same amount of territory, and you purchase balloons to spread out towards them trying to take over more area. Your funding for the things you build comes from mines you build all over the map, so you are in a rush to get to ones you see quicker then the other team. Even if you get them though, like everything else in this game they can be destroyed, and the area taken over by the enemy. So overall it is a quite strategic game that will be enjoyed by most RTS fans I'm sure.
It also has online multiplayer, that you do the same thing, except for against a real human player instead of AI. You still choose your characters, weapons, and maps just like in the story mode, but against another player online. It is a lot of fun, everything is based on what you have unlocked in single player though, so you have to play that as well to compete. It is a ton of fun, only problem is with the entire game, not just online is freezing up. In about the 10 to 15 hours I played this game it froze over 50 times. That gets real annoying considering how long some of the fights can take. Your in to a fight pretty deep enjoying yourself, and boom kicked to the home screen of your Xbox. There is no mid level saves, so you have to start all over, gets old real quick. Hopefully a update is on the way though, because it is a lot of fun. We had a blast with the single player, as well as the multiplayer, but hoping this is fixed soon. I've really yet to have many matches actually finish online, because of this or disconnections so it really is a distraction from the fun.
Pros: Completely destructible terrains
Tons of unlockables
Very large single player campaign
Online Multiplayer
Great fluid controls
Cons: Broken at the moment
Overall: 7.2 A sooo addictive online/offline RTS game, that needs repaired so we can keep on enjoying.
