We Happy Few

We Happy Few is a game that is in preview right now in the Xbox marketplace, and from what we can tell so far is off to a very good start. It comes from a developing team in Canada called Compulsion Games, and started off as a kickstarter. It all seems to be put together pretty flawlessly so far. After about 15 to 20 hours with it, have noticed very few issues. Runs very smoothly. The controls are crisp, and was able to move through out the beautiful designed maps very stealth like, and undetected.
As far as the story goes, without spoiling anything. I begin knowing my main job is to distribute the news to the people. I once was on a pill called joy that seems to remove the painful memories, and somewhat control my actions. A manufactured false sense of happiness if you will. Now my choice is to take it, and be the zombie they want, or throw it away, and see more clearly. Then I can spread the truth. Once I take this path though, I become a wanted man by the constables. So from here on out my mission is just to escape Wellington Wells.
You then spend the rest of your time trying to do so, while not only battling constables, and brainwashed drugged out citizens, but also your own body. That is because We Happy Few is somewhat of a resource management and crafting game as well. You have to get enough sleep, enough to eat and drink, and even watch your health from disease. At times it is however a little much, and seems restraining. I could see them slowing these meters down a little soon, because a lot of the time it zaps the fun out of the game. Especially if your playing the one life mode, that makes you start completely over on death. At times feels you are looking for beds, and food, and avoiding traps more than you are trying to accomplish the many fun quests put before you. I quite enjoyed it though, seems a lot more life like, and adds a challenge to the game. You can turn it off though as well, that enables you to be able to respawn.
All in all We Happy Few is a blast though. It feels like BioShock meets Dishonored. A perfect combination of beautiful yet creepy art, and scares with a stealthy game play. You will be blown away visually on many of occasions. The art is just amazing, and really sucks you into this open world. While the story just makes you think, and wonder how it all will play out in the end. We Happy Few is certainly without a doubt worth the price of admission. It holds up to all the excitement, and hype from E3. Your going to enjoy it very much, if you enjoy creepy and stealthy games. It has all the charm of titles before it like, BioShock and Fable. It really fits into the same category as these with it's appearance as well as its amazing story. You will be sucked in, and Immersed from the oh so eery Pinata scene, all the way until you finish your journey. More than likely you'll load it back up, and do it all over again.
Pros: Beautiful, Beautiful Art
Very Creepy, and intriguing Story
A Fun Challenge, managing resources
Wonderful sounds, and music fit perfectly.
Cons: The Meters seem to move a little quick at times.
A lot of the characters look the exact same.
Overall: 8.6 A creepy and beautiful open world, full of amazing personalities you'll can't wait to sneak your way through.
