Old Time Hockey

Old Time Hockey was a real pleasant surprise. Hockey games today are just to much like a sim, and a lot of the fun is lost in it. Old Time Hockey takes you back to the fun you had on the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Genesis games. Games like Blades of Steel and NHL 98.
Old Time Hockey has two modes Local Multiplayer and a story mode. The story mode is a season where each game has objectives. Like shoot so many shots a game, or hold them to a certain amount of goals, or check a certain player on the ice. They all add, a little something extra to each game, and give you reasons to play some games over. These objectives unlock collectible player cards that give you even more of a back story on players through out the league.
The story covers 70s hockey in a bush league where you are in charge of a team in jeopardy that needs a championship to not fold. Story is really in depth with a calendar, newspaper articles, full league stats, even a live ticker to keep up with the rest of the league. And once you beat it, you unlock new game plus where you can use any of the teams, and alternate jerseys.
The exhibition mode is local only, but there is a leaderboard that keeps up with all your wins and losses. The soundtrack is amazing. It is all inspired by 70's hockey songs. Everything about the game is a perfect throwback to 70s hockey. I enjoyed my entire time with Old Time Hockey. I been waiting for a Hockey game like this for awhile, I'd love a baseball game like this as well. Hopefully someone develops one soon. Until then, I'll be loving the hell out of this amazing retro Hockey flashback.

Pros: Amazing soundtrack
Smooth controls
In depth story mode
Tons of extras and unlockables
Cons: Visuals aren't amazing, but perfect for the era
No online multiplayer

Overall: 7.8 A blast from the past, Old Time Hockey takes you back to the 70's bush leagues, and old school retro hockey games.
