Delta Squad is a sequel to Full Blast where alone or with three friends you have to stop General Rumanovsky an Overlord who is trying to achieve global domination by turning the population into zombies. It really plays and feels a lot like classic Ikari Warriors but with a definite fresh feel as the missions must be found on the map. The missions drop from the sky in care packages, and as you complete them some times rewarded with health and side weapon ammo. It can take awhile to find the missions at times, but they include things like killing a certain amount of enemies, taking out communication towers, or fuel supplies. It is a lot of fun doing these but alone it can be difficult. There are no checkpoints so you die on a level you start over on it. I recommend the Medic his pistol is really strong and you get 4 health kits to heal yourself or team. You can either be a medic, heavy, infantry, or engineer. The heavy has a rail gun and grenade launcher. The Infantry a AR and grenades, and the engineer has a shotgun and mines. All of these characters also have a roll to escape grenade blasts and bullets. You make your way across 5 different levels and you can choose which order you do so. There are 10 missions on each level then you'll be rewarded with a a hidden area with a boss. I really enjoyed this game alone, but it's a lot more fun and action with friends. It really takes me back to NES and playing with friends and cousins.

The look and feel is really retro. The maps are fairly big and unique from buildings, barns, gas stations just really well designed to give you a large open area to hunt down your objectives. It's loaded with zombies and soldiers to get in your way. They really aren't to much of a threat, the guns on the ground are the worst. They will take out a quarter of your health pretty much. So when you see those it's best to get it out of there and keep moving and shooting until it's defeated. Once you clear those out you really will not have much of a hassle moving around finding missions. The Achievements are fairly simple as well, I say you can get the completion in under 30 minutes. Stuff like kill 5 enemies with a single grenade, survive 10 waves in survival, the last you will probably get will be defeat the first boss. None are to hard really, so it makes for another great title for achievement hunters.

Is this title for you? I think most retro fans will enjoy this one. I think it is also a great game for people looking to play something with a buddy. It's good for a evening of fun, and you might even go back to it with some one else. So that coop aspect offers some replay value. Maybe not alone, but it is certainly a return visit with friends looking to hangout and play or add to their gamer scores. I know I'll be coming back to it with a buddy or two that care about their scores as well. Like most Ratalaika published games the value alone makes it worth adding to your collection.
