Double Kick Heroes is a rhythm based game with zombies. So to try and put a idea in your head of what I'm talking about we will say Guitar Hero meets Plants Vs Zombies. The thing is it is so much more than that though. There is a really good story attached to it, with a pretty cool looking art style. The story is about a band that find out about the zombie apocalypse during a concert when they find out their audience is made up of the undead. To escape they jump into their car and strap cannons to their kick drum. That is pretty much what you do in the game. You control a car and attack hordes of zombies, chickens, and other enemies with cannons that fire by hitting the notes on the rhythm bar. It really is a simple concept, but can get a little difficult at times.
The story is really fun, and made up of awesome characters. Not just your band, but other encounters along the way. Even some celebrities, and rock stars. I don't want to ruin the surprises with those, so let you find out for yourself. Well I might throw a little clue at you for one of them. he is a Superstar, some would say a AntiChrist SuperStar? That probably gave him away to some of you 90s rock guys, but don't worry there are plenty more. You really will enjoy this action packed, and hysterical story. The characters really will leave you laughing, and entertained as well.
The best thing however though has to be the music. You will fall in love with the tunes without a doubt. Thy are so catchy I don't really think you have to be a metalhead to enjoy them. I know i found myself foot tapping along the way. The rhythm section drum beats that fire the cannons really fit well into the songs.
There are other parts to this game besides just the campaign. The Arcade mode breaks down the missions into sections, and the best part is probably the Editor mode. You can edit levels adding your favorite songs to them, and can upload them for others to try. You can also download other people's creations as well. I haven't tried it a whole lot, but I saw some Linkin Park and Metallica on there so it certainly adds a ton of replay to the game. It already had a lot of replay value to begin with. So it is certainly worth grabbing from the Steam store.
Pros: The music is Rad
The Editor is amazing
Tons of replay value
Cool characters and story
Zombies and Rock
Cons: Can get a little repetitive at times
Overall: 8.5 Zombies, Rockstars, and Guns what else can you really ask for. Hours and Hours of Rockin Fun.
