7 Days to Die is a survival crafting horror game where your left alone during a zombie outbreak, with no items on you. You must learn to survive the first day which is basically a tutorial then for 7 and so on. To do this you must learn to use a ton of items you find hidden throughout the world to craft food, clothing, meds, weapons, and even your own fort. You can build from scratch or build on to current locations. The map is fairly huge with cities, houses, cars, animals, and of course zombies around every turn.
the game is fairly realistic, and very unforgiving if you don't plan well. There really is nothing like forgetting to carry a light as you travel out discovering, just to find yourself taking cover in a dark house where you can't see anything hearing zombies walk around wondering if they have got inside or not. It can feel really real.
One of the bright spots about this game is the coop, building and surviving along side 3 of your friends is just a blast. Also makes it a little bit easier. This is without a doubt the best way to play the game for survival and most of all fun. The amount of crafting items in this game is amazing. You can really build some amazing forts. I've heard a lot of people comment in reviews about graphics, and give low scores for it. I never judge a game by the way it looks. A lot of developers have different styles and its understandable. No one says Minecraft or Tetris look amazing, but they are two of the most successful games ever released. The Graphics on 7 Days to Die are just fine. I've seen a lot worse from big time AAA titles. The visuals don't take away from the experience at all, and some of it actually looks pretty nice.
I will say the controls on console can be a little iffy at times, that I prefer it on PC but either way still ends up with having a good time with friends building and taking out waves of the undead. If you die you do respawn, but with less of a energy bar, so it is rewarding to try and stay alive. Sometimes that is easier said then done, easy to get trapped while building not paying attention or while on the hunt for animals to eat, and get taken down from behind while aiming your bow and arrow for a shot on that deer, even radiated zones you can wonder into that zap your health. The most annoying though to me I'd say is just getting wet, everything you do in this game effects your health, and that really makes you plan and think out your moves wisely.
One of the things I didn't like, but think will be fixed by update is how progress isn't saved if in someone's game. I say this because a lot of times when things go bad for them they tend to back out, and your time has been wasted, so It is a lot wiser to play with friends you know will stick around, and have a good connection won't get booted offline during play. Still though if you can find a good team, and survive til that 7th day your rewarded with a horde of zombies that if your not prepared you aren't going to survive. i enjoyed this game a lot despite a lot of bad reviews I had seen for it. I think people judge games by graphics far to much this day and age in gaming. Will it be a game we are talking about years from now, and still playing? I doubt it, but is it a lot of fun right now in a summer with not a lot of releases to look forward to? Most certainly.
Pros: Realistic Survival
Fun COOP
Amazing amounts of crafting
Scary and unforgiving
Cons: Visuals not amazing
Controls can be difficult
At times glitchy
Overall: 7.7 7 Days to Die is a lot of fun with friends,at a fairly inexpensive price during the summer game drought. If you have someone to share the fun of killing zombies with, you won't be let down by this at all.
