Solo is a game where you can pick your sex, and you go on a quest to find out what love means to you. The game asks a lot of questions about love, and what it means to you that are really thought inspiring. Solo doesn't set any boundaries you can love the same sex, the opposite sex it doesn't matter. The game just wants to make sure Love is what drives you, and that love is in your mind and hopefully your heart. The puzzles like love have no real set way to solve them, it is up to you. You help others with love as well. You will come across creatures that have been split up, and can't find their ways back to one another. You build them bridges to be together again, and they respond with love for each, and for you as well. There is many ways to find love from creatures in this game. You will design contraptions to water their flowers, you will find them songs on your guitar, as well as even finding them food. They will reward you with love and admiration. It is all really heart warming, and feels good as you help the creatures of the game.
The areas are really beautiful to look at as well. You will find yourself just sitting back enjoying the areas bright colorful landscapes and blue oceans. Seems like a lot of Merge Games have this feel to them. I was a huge fan of Yonder, and this game took me back to that over and over. The beauty is just hard to look away from. The music is pretty amazing as well. I enjoyed the peaceful sounds that played through out the entire game. Like Yonder I liked you couldn't die as well. There is also so many ways to solve the puzzles it was hard to fail as well. Even though i life I've failed at love many times, in Solo I was able to get it right more times then wrong. Some times you just want a peaceful game to sit back , and enjoy and not stress over. This is one of those games.
I will also say it's a nice game for Trophy/Achievement hunters as well. It might take a few hours, but most the Achievements were pretty simple and hard to miss. I didn't have to go back after completing it but for just one Achievement. I highly recommend this game as you can probably tell. If you have a Switch I would say it is a can't miss title since they aren't really blowing any one away right now with most of their releases. It looks great on the console, and runs really well to. I had no issues with Solo from start to finish, not a single bug to mention. I hope you play it, and discover what love means to you. Then i hope you come back here, and share what you thought of the game. not many people do that, and would like to hear some other thoughts on some of these we review. Well thanks for taking the time out of your day to read this review, and thanks for the support. Give a little to Merge and Gotham Games as well. With a lot of releases of games not really ready for release loaded with bugs and glitches it's good to have Devs and Publishers getting out their art that really makes you really love your purchase, and feel you got what you paid for.
Pros:Beautiful colorful islands and oceans
Really heartwarming and thought provoking
Adorable characters and creatures
Fun and relaxing game play and puzzles
Runs perfectly
Cons: Just wish it was longer, hated seeing it end
Overall: Merge delivers another adorable game, that really makes you think about love. Makes you think what it means to you, and how it drives you if it does at all. You may walk away from Solo feeling like you like being Solo in life, but you won't walk away with out putting great thought into that. You won't walk away with out feeling good, and like you just had the most adorable adventure either.
