Gryphon Knight Epic is a 2D retro shoot em up, about a Knight long after his grand adventures of slaying dragons have came to an end, and he has settled down with his Princess wife. He still longs for a grand adventure like the ones of past, and his hopes are answered when Sir Oliver is once more called to action.
This game is short but sweet, taking me a little under 4 hours to beat on my first play, but see from achievements and can be completed in 2 hours. even with that being said the game is a blast. It takes you back to the days of arcade games, and side scrollers on your Super Nintendo. The level designs are really cool, the bosses are unique and entertaining. Everything about it has a satisfying classic feel. There are things to upgrade such as weapons, that change the way you play the game. There is certainly a challenge, as in some areas are just flooded with enemies. Has sort of a Mega man feel when it comes to level layout. I'm sure you will have your struggles. Each level is a awesome unique area. From forest, to desserts, to the ocean. Each also have their different styles of enemies so it never grows repetitive. from reptiles, to spiders, to even pirates the action is always different considering each have their own different attacks. The bosses may be the best part, as they all have entertaining comedic stories to go along with their awesome design.I enjoyed every boss battle, prob my favorite part of the game discovering just how to beat this guy.
The achievements are fun, and encourage replay value, and I see you wanting to play it over anyways considering it isn't overly time consuming, and it is a lot of fun. Everything about it is good, but not great. Which is okay to me, they all can't be flawless perfect games. Sometimes solid, good, and fun is enough and in this case this is right there in that pocket. It is a game you can spend your 10 dollars on, and have no regrets while enjoying it for a few days trying to 100% it. I def recommend it to retro/indie game lovers. I think it's money, and time well spent, and these guys did a stand up job developing this one.

Pros: Fun game, lots of unlocks.
Enjoyable music, and sounds
Nice art, and level design
Challenge is certainly there.

Cons: Tad short, but you'll be playing it over and over anyways.

Overall: 7.8 Good solid, Indie/retro 2D side scroller loaded with laughs and fun...
